Table Talk – REVOLUTION!
“Two thousand years later, no one is singing songs about Herod or giving themselves to the kingdom of Caesar. Herod’s kingdom is dust, Rome is ensconced in museums, yet billions gather in the name of Jesus each week. No matter how many Caesars and Herods fill this world, they will never have the last word. The revolution of Jesus will see to that.”
- Mike Erre, “Jesus of Suburbia”
Jesus brought a revolution of love to a violent world. He came giving gifts of meaning, purpose, forgiveness, inclusion, healing and hope. In return, we celebrate his birth by giving our friends bottles of Obsession, iPods, mittens, and lottery tickets.
The Apostle Paul gave his friends prayerful blessings. Check out: Philippians 1:3-11, Ephesians 3: 14-21 and I Thessalonians 3:9-13.
Last night, I challenged The Table Church to explore ways that they can give more meaningful gifts. This week on Table Talk, I would love to hear your creative and meaningful gift-giving ideas. How can we give great gifts and reduce our consumerism? How can we express our sincere appreciation to people? Who can we bless with an unexpected gift? Let’s start another Christmas Revolution by giving gifts that really matter.
Don’t forget to listen to the Podcast of Saturday’s message.
