Picking up the Newest Members of the Hmung Family

This is a photo taken from Dan's phone
Pastor Dan, Duane Martin and John Hart left at 8 a.m. this morning. Only two hours into their trip, they ran into MUCH traffic. According to the news, there are 1200 accidents being worked on along their route. Travel advisory says, “avoid travel at all costs!” They are in harrisburg right now just sitting on 581 waiting for traffic to move. They desire to stop for breakfast, but cannot even move. Please pray for our brothers as they drive in these bad road conditions. Pray for their emotions as this situation cannot be encouraging.

We drove to Jackson MS. SLEPT in van for several hours at an old ugly truck stop. We are driving an hour and then stopping for breakfast. We are on time for our 1 PM meeting with Vans brother.

Hurricane-Like Rain...we named it Hurricane Duane
On a side note. We were able to listen to the eagles great victory last night over the giants. I was driving for the entire length of the game. No dosing off for me.
John and I think we might take a 3 hour drive next week when the eagles play. We brought them such good luck last night.
Oh my gosh. Duane jus saw a 30 point buck and john saw multiple tree stands. Sounds like the next missions trip will invole some hunting in LA. – Dan

Linda and Linda - refugee office staff in LA

Great idea on giving us some updates on the website. What an exciting trip, safe travels!
Now wait. See if I have this right… Three guys who are not related left in a van for LA. to pick up some people who are related to a Van. These three guys slept in a van, ate in a van, listened to the Eagles game in a van and then met those who know a Van and are returning home again as soon as they can. These people who are related to a Van are coming back to live with a Van in his home, but will more than likely ride again in a van. However, it will not be Dan’s van but a Van’s van. Got it?
D.
This is awesome! It is so awesome of the three of you to be doing this selfless act! GO EAGLES!
I love reading these updates. Praying for safe travels home. Dan – I went and got Emanuel on the bus this morning. She is such a sweetheart!!! We read books,I taught her how to play Uno and we watched Curious George. What a fun way to start my morning!
Everyone’s phone battery died and we could not send updated pictures, but the two families were reunited today at 2:30 PM. We all made it home safely to Bird-in-Hand. We were quite tired. It took us 56 hours to make the round trip. When I took the van back to Hertz, the clerk was sure that there was error. She did not believe that we could put 2600 miles on the van in that short of a time. Thank you for praying for us. We traveled through ice, driving rain and flooding. We took turns driving. One person would drive, another person would ride shotgun and try to keep the driver alert, and the third person would try to sleep in the back of the van. We all looked forward to a hot shower and a full night’s sleep.
Dale, you got it exactly right. Your students must love the clarity with which you explain things. I, for one, had absolutely no trouble following your “train” of thought. When we slept at the ugly, scary rest stop, I was thankful that we were not the victims of any “Van” dalism.
