March 27 – Holy Week
Why is this night different from all other nights?
During the Passover Meal every year the Jewish family would follow a strict order of events. During the night someone would ask the question: “Why is this night different from all other nights?” The father would explain the meaning of the celebration as they remembered the night that God delivered their ancestors from slavery in Egypt. Jesus and his disciples met in a rented room to eat the Passover the meal. It was the night that he would eat his last meal with them. He told them about his death and instructed them to remember his body broken and his blood poured out for them. He wrapped a towel around his waist and knelt before each of his disciples with a basin of water. He washed their dirty and dusty feet as an act of love and humility.
On March 27 Jesus’ disciples from THE TABLE CHURCH will gather at the Lancaster Christian School to remember the events of this important night. It will be a night different from all other nights. The night begins at 6 p.m. with a simple meal, followed by the practice of feet washing, communion and prayers of healing. The band from The TABLE will lead the congregation in times of meaningful worship.
If you have never participated in a feet washing service, we encourage you to come and experience this extremely moving event. Not sure? Feel free to observe.
