Mind Matters

Sometimes I read the Bible, and I am confronted by a teaching of Jesus that just seems too hard. In the sermon of the mount he teaches that it just as bad to lust as it is to commit adultery. He also says to hate someone is just like committing murder. All our actions first begin as thoughts that we entertain.  He wants us to be in control of our thought life. But, how do I do this?  How do I discipline my thought life ?

2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

We can take our thoughts and make them captive to the will of God. Wow! When you capture someone or something it means you have them in your possession, and you are in control. Isn’t that great! You would have self-control not the other way around where your thoughts are controlling you. I love this verse. It tells me that God has made a way so that our thoughts don’t have to control us.

Listen to the sermon and comment on this teaching.  Share with us ways that you have learned to take your thoughts captive and bring them under the Lordship of Christ.
