Dia Cuatro
GOD IS SO GOOD! We had an awesome day at the work-site today. After having a hearty breakfast, that included Pitaya juice (see the picture of Marshall holding the fruit) we loaded up the van and headed out to the church. We were greeted by our new friends. Today we mixed cement and filled the forms around the horizontal re-bar that was about halfway up the wall. We also made more squares and twisted wire.
One of the workers climbed up a coconut tree and kicked the fruit down to the ground. They cut it open with a what looked like a small machete. We all got to taste the liquid inside. It was not a sweet as we thought it might be. We are developing relationships with our new brothers and sisters. Today we sang a few praise songs along with them. They sang in Spanish and we sang in English. It was a heartwarming experience.
We did not have as many children today. Monday, Thursday and Friday they have school in the morning, Tuesday and Wednesday they have school in the afternoon. We have the childrens’ ministry in the afternoon, so we only had about 30 children today. The church has a simple sound system which we really needed yesterday with the 100 children. Today we did not have electric in the afternoon. It would be very helpful to have electric on Thursday and Friday for the sound system when we expect more children again. Please keep that in your prayers!
We met two ladies from the Nicaraguan BIC National Womens society – twice since we were here. The treasurer publicly asked for prayer because handling other peoples money can be delicate in this society. They asked for prayer in honesty for handling other peoples’ offerings. Please pray for our sisters in Christ!
We returned to the hotel, got cleaned up, ate supper and headed out to the evening service at the church. When we arrived, they still did not have electric, so they had a few candles burning. They asked us to sing a song in the service. We chose to sing Lift Your Name on High and did the hand motions! Part way thru the service the electric returned! Prayer was answered!
There was a little birthday celebration for one of the ladies we met on the work-site. We sang to her in English. Then later in the evening during the service, she went up front. The people of the church made a line and each greeted and hugged her! You could see how they all care so much about each other.
We returned to the hotel later in the evening, had our debriefing, and retired for the evening. It was a long and very warm day. We are looking forward to tomorrow and what the Lord has planned for us! Please continue to pray for our health, safety, and strength! Please also keep those comments coming. We enjoy them so much!
In his service,
Marshall and the Poetts!
