Our Second Day
God is Good! Thank you all for your prayers and comments on the blog. We read all the comments during our “debriefing time” after supper.
This morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pancakes, watermelon, pineapple, and fresh jamaica drink. Then we headed off to a service at Piedra Menuda! Vicky, Janay and Jann were on the team that helped build a church there in February of 2009. It was a time of joy as they were reunited with the people of the congregation they had formed relationships with while they were there. There were lots of hugs!
We stopped for lunch at a Papa Johns! The pizza was very good. Then we returned to the hotel, changed and went to see the volcano. We walked to the top and peered down into the volcano. There was a lot of smoke, and the smell of sulfur was very strong. We had a bit of excitement on the ride hack to the hotel. Our van had some mechanical issues. Mason assisted the driver, and we were able to continue on our way!
We changed clothes again, and went to meet our brothers and sisters in Christ at Ticuantepe! We were greeted with many smiles! We enjoyed a special service that included some fun games. Pastor Dan and Marshall joined in by playing a game that involved some coins on a plate covered with a pile of flour. The object of the game was to blow off the flour to uncover the coins. Dan was declared the winner. He got to keep the cordovas (coins)! We were joined by Surgey and Violetta at the church. They returned to the hotel with us. Surgey is leaving tomorrow. Violetta will be going to the work-site with us as to help translate for the rest of the week as a part of our team!
After returning to the hotel we ate a tasty meal of chicken, rice, beets, potatoes, carrots, and a cheesy mushroom sauce. Then we had devotions, and a time of sharing and prayer!
We are excited to begin our first day of work tomorrow! Please keep our safety and health in your prayers. Also pray for safe transportation to and from the church. We look forward to reading your comments! Keep them coming!
Adios!

Great pictures, you can count on my prayers today and during the whole trip for your safety and strength especially for your first day of work, enjoy. I Love You All and keep up the great work, the smiles say it all. You guys are the best.
Poor Marshall didn’t stand a chance against Dan in that game!!!:) Glad you have settled in. Kudos to Mason for helping to fix the van!
What beautiful people! The pictures brought smiles and tears! You all look so great. May God who has begun this good work in and through each of you carry it on to completion in the day of Christ Jesus our Lord. Blessings to all!
I don’t know maybe its just me but whenever I see smoke and smell burning sulfur I want to run AWAY from it not towards it.
And your breakfast sure sounds better than mine of chocolate milk and a little to ripe banana.
Have another great day!
Glad to hear you are all doing great! What a wonderful opportunity to be there. Jann-you mentioned melted chocolate on facebook. Sounds like something we should add to “messy games”. Make sure you check facebook Thursday for pics. We will miss you there!
Papa Johns on the second day! Marshall is giving in too early these days.It usually takes a couple days of rice and beans before the Pizza run. Seriously, it is great to see all that is happening.
