Summer Blast Car Show

After a two-year break, the Summer Blast Car Show is returning, but at a new location! The show, last held at Lancaster Mennonite School, is run by The Table Community Church. This year the show is being held at the Willow Street Fireman’s Field, next to the Willow Street Fire Company. The new location was chosen because it’s a “beautiful open area with lots of space to display cars and a convenient location right off of 272” says car enthusiast and Summer Blast planning committee member Carl Mellinger.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 17 from 3 – 7 p.m. Registration for cars starts at 2:30. No early birds please. If it rains, the rain date is July 24, and an announcement will be posted on the church’s website, www.tablechurch.com. There will be People’s Choice awards that registered car owners can vote for, and those just attending the show can register to vote. The People’s Choice will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

Classic muscle cars, street rods and antiques are all welcomed to register for the show. Registration will be a $10 donation to the church. To kick off the fun, there will be a DJ who will spin the classics and give away door prizes for car owners, including gift certificates and much more donated by Lancaster-area businesses. “Local businesses have been very generous,” according to planning committee chair Jann Denlinger. If you get hungry, there will be delicious food available for purchase, such as chicken or Philly cheese steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, frozen treats, and drinks. For your convenience, there will be indoor bathrooms, as well as handicapped restrooms available.

The Summer Blast Car Show will benefit the ministries of The Table Community Church such as children’s programs like Vacation Bible School and The Basement Youth Group as well as missions trips that The Table is involved in.

There will be plenty of fun for everyone at the Summer Blast Car Show. It will be a chance to stroll down memory lane during an afternoon of fun, good tunes, great food, and awesome cars!
