history
Pastor Dan Houck was given a burning desire to help people discover the joy of a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. He especially wants to connect with people who have given up on church or those asking questions about the reality of God.
Out of this passion, the Table was born. While employed at the Pequea Brethren in Christ Church as Youth Pastor, Dan was commissioned to plant an alternative style church to reach people who were not relating to the “normal” church. A team of 50 people volunteered to help Dan start-up this “unusual” church. After months of preparation, planning and praying the church was launched in November 2004.
Meeting around tables at the Lancaster Mennonite School gym, the Saturday night coffee house church was started. A mixture of contemporary worship with a full band, relevant teaching, creative arts, discussion and a great cup of coffee are the recipe for our weekly meetings.
As our journey continues, the church, the people of the Table, strive to fulfill the purpose God has set before us to reach out to others with the message of hope and purpose that can only come through knowing Christ.
The Table is a Place...
- To be yourself.
- To ask tough questions and get honest answers.
- To meet new friends and build authentic relationships.
- To grow spiritually and relationally.
- To make a difference in your community and world by serving others.
